The Moi Teaching and Referral hospital has assured all its intern doctors and other staff that their security is guaranteed.
This follows a recent incident in which an intern doctor at the hospital Dr. Boutrous Waithaka was killed by unknown people while at his house in the leafy Elgon view estate.
Speaking during the farewell mass for the slain doctor at the hospital's grounds on Wednesday, MTRH Director Dr. Wilson Aruasa said they are planning to initiate a security audit of all the houses where their staff members are staying to ensure it is secure.
He said following a review of the housing policy by the government, paid doctors including interns and other hospital staff members are required to look for their own houses.
"We take security for all our staff seriously and it is worth noting that Dr. Waithaka had no prior threats to him but as a precautionary measure we are going to conduct an audit to ensure houses where our staff live are safe," said Dr. Aruasa.
The body of Dr. Waithaka was on Wednesday transported to Jomo Kenyatta University funeral home ahead of his burial set for next Tuesday in Kiambu.
