The hospital received Sh7 million earlier this month from the county government for completion of a storrey building that is expected to house a number of health officials.

Speaking at the hospital on Tuesday, Bosire said the health department was determined to equip all sub county hospitals with maternity wings to reduce cases of maternal deaths.

“We are in the process of equipping all sub county hospitals with maternity wings to reduce cases of maternal deaths. Each of those hospitals will receive Sh2 million from the county government and have just started the process here at Esani,” he said.

“We want to make maternity services easily accessible to our girls and mothers so that they don’t have to travel long distances to receive such services,” he said.

Bosire also said the county government will recruit more workers to reduce the workload of the existing staff in the next three months.

“It’s not all about erecting buildings without adequate medical personnel. We will start recruiting more health officials to our local dispensaries and sub county hospitals to reduce workload of the existing workers,” he said.

Bosire also took the opportunity to warn responsible committee of any financial impropriety, insisting that his department will carry out a financial audit once the structure is completed.
