Nyamira governor John Nyagarama has for the first time spoken about his health, a week after he was taken ill in a US hospital.
The ODM governor had left for further treatment in what sources say is persistent failing of limbs which has affected his walking style.
And in a statement on Sunday, Nyagarama said his health has improved substantially thus bringing to end speculations about his life.
"It is true I left the country for further treatment. I am now stable contrary to what people say. It has been a long journey though," he said.
"I plead with my people to stop peddling malicious propaganda about my health. I will be back soon after the treatment is over," he added.
Back at home, his son, Ndemo Nyagarama, is said to be critical at Nairobi Hospital, which has been like his second home for several months.
Before his flight, Nyagarama had handed over to deputy governor Amos Nyaribo albeit on a temporary basis.
