Hostel owners in Nakuru town and its environs are registering booming business following the re-opening of most colleges in and around Nakuru town.
A spot check done by this writer established that most hostels have already been booked for the first semester as college and university students started reporting back this morning.
Speaking to this writer this morning, Peter Nderitu who owns a number of hostels in Section 58 said that his two blocks are already full saying that most of the rooms were booked as early as December last year.
“I have two blocks with twenty rooms per block and they are all full, I received the money in December and am just waiting for the students to arrive. By end of this week I expect all of them to be back,” he said.
Jacinta Mwiria who runs the hostel business at white house estate said that business is good and she expects it to be at its peak by the end of this week.
“A few of them have arrived but the rooms are not full yet but by Friday the place will be full,” she said.
Nakuru town hosts tens of colleges and university campuses with thousands of students something that has prompted a good number of house owners to convert their premises into hostels due to the good returns.
