Karachuonyo Member of Parliament James Rege has denied claims that he had ditched ODM party for President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party.
Rege told People Daily that he is still an ODM member and maintained he will defend his seat on an ODM ticket during the 2017 general election.
He said he has been working with the Jubilee administration for the sake of development in his area.
“I have been working closely with the Jubilee government for the sake of development in my constituency and this should not be misconstrued as defection,” said Rege on Wednesday.
A few days ago the MP was quoted by the Star saying he quit the party because of Raila Odinga's close allies whom he accuses of not believing in fairness and divergent opinions.
The MP made the about-turn after ODM party leader Raila Odinga threatened to eject rebels from the party and force a by-election to replace them.
Rege has constantly been criticising ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
He was also asked to quit the party in April, 2016 after attending a Jubilee prayer rally in Nakuru led by President Uhuru.
Rege recently asked for police to protect his family after receiving death threats from unknown people.
