The Kenya Association of Hotel Keepers and Caterers (KAHC) symposium 2016 has kicked off at the Sarova Hotel in Mombasa.
The symposium that began on Thursday brought together county leaders and stakeholders in the tourism industry.
Speaking at the event, Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho said there was need for diversification of tourism products and enhancement of infrastructure, in a bid to spur tourism growth.
The governor also pointed out the need to market the county as an investment and tourism hub, in order to increase revenue earned from the sector.
On his part, Tourism CS Najib Balala lauded the private sector for their contribution in boosting the sector.
Julius Kitheka, who attended the event, said the interactions going on at the symposium are an indication of how Kenya is rich in ideas that can be used to spur economic growth.
He urged KPA to increase the number of ferries at the Likoni channel to seven, in a bid to address the delays experienced while crossing the channel.
