Malindi and Watamu hoteliers are expecting full bookings in their resorts during the Easter Holidays set for April.

Already most tourism resorts have begun receiving bookings from both local and international tourists ahead of Easter.

The hoteliers said tourists are now interested to come for holiday in the North coast after the elections.

A spot check in some of the hotels indicates that the tourism season has been faring on well since December with a record of good bookings from both domestic and foreign tourists.

Most hotels have now introduced special packages and offer to attract more tourists.

At temple Point resort one of the luxurious resorts in Watamu the management said the first 50 tourists to book for Easter shall get a free boat trip,  to watch sundowner.Ian Langer the Deputy Director of Temple Point Resort said they shall also not raise the price for Easter.

Speaking at the resort yesterday he said those who will book online shall get a free bottle of sparkling wine their resort was already filling up with guests.

“We have opened a kids club at the resort and we are creating more family activities to attract families,’’ he said. 

Langer said currently they have guests from Germany, Italy, and Kenya adding that tourism sector was recovering well and they expect a booming business up to easter. 

Moreover, he said they have established a partnership with Extra divers an international diving network with membership from many countries in the world to ensure guests also come to enjoy the diving experience in WatamuCurrently he said 65 percent of the bookings they have received are domestic.

“Kenya is recovering in tourism, we have full house guests from Germany Italy and Kenya,’’ he said. 

Langer said they also plan to introduce a 1956 plane which would be moving round to Mida creek for ski diving and Air safaris for their guests.

Currently, he said the plane was already at the Malindi airport and once the registration process is over it will begin operations.

Ravi Rora the general manager of The one resort in Watamu a new hotel in Watamu said their hotel has offered a special package for Easter.

He said any Clients who would book for four days at Sh. 53,000 shall get a free air ticket.

“ We are coming with new packages for domestic and international tourists, anybody who will book in the hotel shall go to a marine park, Mida creek turtle watch, Gedi ruins, Kipepeo, Arabuko Sokoke forest, Malindi museum, Sabaki river, Hells Kitchen and Tsavo East,’’ he said.

Rora said the packages would soon be launched to attract more guests to the resort.

The General Manager called on the government to upgrade the roads so as to enable tourists to access the hotels in Watamu easily.
