A lady who once served as a house help of former Tana River Governor Hussein Dado, has sued him alongside his wife.
Catherine Omwansa has sued Dado and his wife, demanding compensation for “unlawful termination of employment”.
In her suit papers filed at the Employment and Labour Relations Court, she claimed she was employed by the respondents in 2009 on a monthly salary of Sh4,000 but the couple failed to pay her terminal dues upon termination of her services in October, 2012.
Through lawyer Jason Okemwa, she told Justice Onesmus Makau the ex-governor and his wife violated her rights to earn good salary as required and so she wants Sh350,000 compensation from the couple.
"I never received one month notice salary of Sh10,656.25, annual leave for three years Sh25,820,90, severance pay for three years Sh16,037.80 and 12 months salary compensation for Sh10,656,25 per year,” she told the court.
However, according to Dado, the lady was paid her salary before termination of the contract.
The case will be mentioned on September 18.
