The Parliament conclave on human rights wants the CSs to explain why the government wants to close the Dadaab refugee camp.

Nkaiserry  is also expected to shed light concerning the Gazette notice he had made showing how the refugees will be handled.

The two will be required to appear before the committee next week as per the letter written and sent to them by committees' chairpersons.

This comes barely days after the government revealed it would spend Sh1 billion in repatriation exercise.

The government argues that the camp is used as a hiding place for al Shabab militia group.

But the MPs have accused Nkaiserry of using a blanket accusation of security threat against the refugees so as to send them back to Somalia.

The members of Parliament from both Jubilee and the Opposition, however, said the camp is not a threat to Kenyans.

“They say the camp is a security threat and want to close it. Is there anyone who has been charged in court or even jailed from the camp,” said Garissa woman rep Shukran Gure.

The MPs called on the Nkaiserry to prove in substance that the camp is a threat to Kenyans. They urged him to show any person from the camp who had been arraigned in court with charges of insecurity.
