Uasin Gishu deputy county commissioner Kinyua Wanjau says that they will get to the bottom of the matter and were trying to find what could have motivated what the arson committed by an unknown group of people.

"It was a new building and criminals set it ablaze but investigations are underway to establish the cause as well as identify the culprits", said Wanjau.

Wanjau termed the act as a criminal one, and said that such acts could not be condoned or allowed to happen under the government's watch. He further allayed fears that the incident could have anything to do with ethnic animosity.

"This is an isolated case and we do not think it is ethnically motivated,”  Wanjau said.

The deputy commissioner asked for anyone with information relating to the incident to come forward.

"Things are under control and we are working tirelessly to bring the suspects to book. I urge the residents to continue maintaining law and order and stay free from speculations,” Wanjau said.

During the incident no casualties were reported though the property was destroyed.
