A 5-storey building under construction at Joyland area in Juja near Jomo Kenyatta University's Gate C has collapsed.
Residents said they woke up on Thursday morning to find the building in rumbles.
A resident Gideon Kariuki who is also a mason at the site that said no one was injured in the incident because workers were not at the site.
"We woke up today morning only to find the house has collapsed. The contractor had been warned by locals that the house could collapse in case of heavy rains as the foundation,was poor" said Kariuki.
He said that. the owner of the house who he declined to name is not responding to calls nor replying to texts.
Locals called on Kiambu County housing department to ensure faulty houses under construction and those that have developed cracks are demolished to curb deaths.
"The county should not keep quiet and watch people die. Houses with cracks should be demolished and tenants living in houses with cracks vacated failure to which we will witness deaths during this rainy season when such houses are likely to collapse," he added.
Kariuki said tenants in the adjacent building are being evacuated.
