A middle aged woman was today, Thursday arraigned in a Kiambu law court for allegedly stealing from her employer in Ting’ang’a.
The prosecution told the court that on the April 28, 2015, Hannah Wairimu, who is the accused person, worked as the house help of Bernard and Jane Njue in their house in Ting’ang’a.
Wairimu is accused of stealing valuables from the accused’s house on the mentioned date, and ran away from the house where she had worked for two years.
It is said that before the incident, the accused had asked for a three-day off from work to go to her home in Nyeri and visit her family.
When the complainants left their home at around 7am for work, the accused is said to have hurriedly taken the two children; aged six and four to a neighbor, and said that she was going to fetch water.
The accused is said to have taken the advantage and went to the complainant’s bedroom, which she had been given the key to do some cleaning.
She allegedly took Sh23,000 that was in the bedside drawer, before carrying her belongings and leaving the house.
The complainants came at around 4:30pm and found the house open, and they assumed she was around.
After an hour of waiting and trying to reach her on phone, which was off by then, Njue went to the neighbour where she found her children and got the news that she had left in the morning.
The accused pleaded not guilty and the Principal magistrate Diana Mochache adjourned the case for a hearing on June 9, 2015.
However she was given a cash bail of Sh50,000
