Details have emerged on how Jubilee aspirant were planning to buy the party’s nomination certificates and beat their opponents hands down.

Another scheme, according to sources, was for those who part with millions of money to also be given ballot papers in advance, mark them and then stuff into the ballot boxes during the nomination exercise.

Sources within the party said a cartel of seven officials were behind the scheme. The plot was to fraudulently print and sell the much sort after certificates and ballot papers.

The seven were arrested.

The seven are said to be four tech savvy staff members who work in the IT department and three supervisors at the Jubilee party headquarters at Pangani.

The racket had already pocket millions from wealthy aspirants desperate to clinch Jubilee tickets in the party’s strongholds.

A party official told a local paper that governor aspirants, MPs, MCAs and Senator aspirants were swindled.

“They thought that since they have the database of all aspirants cleared, it would be easier for them to print parallel ballot papers to be used to rig nominations,” the official told The Standard.

Senior party officials have given instructions that the matter be dealt with internally fearing bad publicity for the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led party.

Those conned have also been told off lest they face disciplinary action from the party for spoiling its name.
