NASA's threat of losing key seats in strongholds is becoming a reality after its luminaries failed to reach an agreement on single candidates to battle out with Jubilee contestants.
The alliance risks remaining inferior to Jubilee in terms of parliamentary representation if it fails to organise well to avoid splitting their votes.
In Nairobi, Jubilee have focussed on Embakasi South, Embakasi East, Embakasi North, Westlands, Dagoretti North and Lang’ata — all currently held by ODM.
Of the 17 constituencies in the city, NASA’s perceived strongholds are Kibra, Ruaraka, Embakasi South, Dagoretti North, Westlands, Embakasi East, Lang’ata, Embakasi Central, and Mathare.
Jubilee have Kamukunji, Roysambu, Kasarani, Dagoretti South and Embakasi North.
The battlegrounds are Makadara, Starehe, and Embakasi West.
For the Senate, NASA will divide its votes between Edwin Sifuna of ODM and Ramesh Gorasia of Wiper against Jubilee's nominated MP Johnson Sakaja.
Jubilee have taken advantage of the situation and presented Sakaja as a Luhya to woo the community's vote, with Luhyas believed to be in NASA solidly.
In the Women Rep battle, NASA has presented ODM's Esther Passaris and Wiper's Rahab Ndambuki to share their vote against incumbent Rachel Shebesh vying on a Jubilee ticket.
