A combination between Deputy President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga remains one of the most unlikely scenarios ahead of the 2022 general elections.

The same is, however, not out of sight, especially after the recent truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga, with there being possibilities, as is common in politics, for the reconciliation to reflect on the election.

Should this happen, Ruto will be assured of the post, judging by Odinga's mammoth national backing.

With the Deputy President currently banking on support from his Rift Valley backyard, one which he is, however, not fully guaranteed of especially with the possibilities of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi's entrance, Odinga's supporters will be of great help to him.

Similarly, he is banking on support from the Mt. Kenya region, another 50-50 affair judging by the dynamic nature of politics, a possible blow should a turnaround erupt.

On the other side, Odinga enjoys an absolute support form his Luo Nyanza bedrock, a few millions more votes in Ruto's basket should they collaborate.

The former Premier also commands a huge following in Kisii, Western Kenya, North Eastern and Coast, an additional advantage to Ruto should they team up.

Therefore, Ruto should consider convincing the veteran politician into backing him, though it might be an uphill task as Odinga is also considered seeking the post for himself.
