Despite having received thousands of calls since she owned a mobile phone, it is a single call that changed the life of Lucy Karanja and her family.
The single call, which lasted only for minutes, made Karanja a millionaire.
She won a Sh30 million windfall from Nation Media's Angukia Chapaa draw.
When she received a call announcing that she was a winner, she first dismissed it as the usual con games being run by prisoners at the Kamiti Maximum prison.
It was too good a new to believe.
It was not until moments before 7pm news at NTV when the middle-aged woman, and her customers at a makeshift food joint at Mai Mahiu, when they heard her number and an aerlier recorded conversation live on air that she believed it.
After receiving her chaque from Nation Media Group, the elated businesswoman said Christmas would not have come in a better way.
