For a very long time now, Safaricom has been enjoying massive customer base in the telecommunication industry.

Despite their high charges, many Kenyans have remained loyal to the network making it register big turnovers year in year out. 

Just last week is when they announced their half-year profits amounting to Sh26.6 billion after tax.

The massive following of Safaricom may soon hit a dead rock if Nasa leader Raila Odinga followers will heed his call to boycott Safaricom services.

We cannot bury our heads in the sand and brush off the fact that Raila (‘Baba’ as his supporters call him) commands a very big number of Kenyans who listen to him as their father.

Now, salt was added to the wound after the leader migrated from Safaricom and joined Airtel. 

His followers are not stranded on which network to use after dumbing Safaricom. 

Obviously, they will follow their leader to Airtel.

Airtel should now embark on strengthening their network coverage, this will help accommodate the large customer base which they will get with time if the political temperatures increase in the country.

They should also increase their marketing. Airtel should now be busy making new marketing strategies to help reach more people who will join their network without much convincing. Baba has already done the major a stellar job of swaying customers to Airtel.

Put up more Airtel money shops. 

The major reason why many Nasa supporters are not embracing the Safaricom boycott is simply that of M-Pesa. 

Airtel still has the same service but it has not put up enough Airtel money outlets like Safaricom has done with M-Pesa. 

If Airtel could put as many Airtel shops across the country, it will be a deal done. 

They will sit back, relax and watch as customers stream into the network.
