In bid to ensure women economic empowerment across Malindi constituency, MP Aisha Jumwa Katana led a host of guests for the Malindi Naona Mwangaza Women Development Initiative funds drive at Cleopatra Grounds.
The guests included Chief Guest Senate Speaker, Ken Lusaka, Nominated Senator Christine Zawadi (Jubilee), Magarini MP, Michael Kingi and a host MCAs, on Sunday.
Deputy President William Ruto was represented by Speaker Ken Lusaka and gave Sh 2 million while Jumwa gave Sh 500,000.
Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi was represented and issued Sh 2 million while Magarini MP gave Sh100,000 and Zawadi issued Sh 50,000.
Jumwa revealed that a total of Sh7.4 million was fundraised during the event.
It would be directed "towards boosting the Malindi women's development kitty which is aimed at establishing the first ever women microfinance enterprise in Malindi Constituency."
