Mombasa Jubilee Party gubernatorial aspirant Suleiman Shahbal has hired a new team of poll agents as he seeks to unseat Governor Hassan Joho in Tuesday’s election.

According to Shahbal’s campaign team, the move is part of a wider scheme aimed at sealing all loopholes that saw him lose the 2013 elections.According to the Star, the former banker’s agents are said to have been compromised, occasioning the need to hire new people.On Monday, the JP point man’s campaign team said the new agents “are now well taken care of, but not in monetary terms”.Elsewhere, his rival Hezron Awiti of Vibrant Democratic Party is also said to have taken extra caution to ensure he emerges the winner.He is also said to have held night-long meetings with his campaign teams to strategise on this goal.Awiti, the outgoing Nyali MP, has one command centre where all activities regarding the election will be coordinated.“Throughout our campaigns, we have employed a more of scorched-earth policy. Our priority if all goes well is to deal with drug menace in the county,” said the aspirant on Monday.
