On Tuesday, the country woke up to sad news of the death of Migori Senator Ben Oluoch, the soft-spoken man who rose to fame through the radio where his voice had dominated airwaves for decades.
The man from Rongo who many describe as a kind being, changed the lives of many people especially from the media industry.
In her condolence message, former Jubilee Nominated Senator Joy Gwendo, a former journalist, noted that Okello changed her media life for the better.
" ...I don't want to praise him because he has left us...15 years ago, Ben guided me through the paces of the media, pulled me off unnecessary media drama... I met Speaker Onyango Oloo (Kisumu County Assembly Speaker) through BOO...the rest is history... Wherever a beautiful soul has been... There are beautiful memories," posted the vocal Jubilee politician on her Facebook page.
Gwendo was not alone in showering the fallen Senator with praises with other politicians not left behind.
Okello died after a long battle with cancer where he had been in and out of hospital which kept him off the public limelight.
