Abdikheir Dubow, who unsuccessfully contested for the Daadab parliamentary seat in this year's election on Monday told the Milimani Law Courts that he lost in the elections because MP Mohammed Dahir used his relatives to influence his win.

Mr Dubow in his petition challenging the election of MP Dahir told Justice Rose Ougo that during the August 8 General Election, his rival used his relatives as poll officials to influence his win.

Mr. Dubow who vied for the seat on the Jubilee ticket further claimed that some polling stations lacked Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) clerks, adding that voting was slow.

“Most of the IEBC officials are related to Dahir. They switched off the lights with his agents during the counting of votes,” he said as quoted by the Star.

The court heard that the August 8 elections were flawed and characterized by massive irregularities and that the elections were not free and fair as required by the constitution.

Mr. Dubow who seeks to have the outcome of the election nullified said that the IEBC and the returning officer failed to uphold the law by declaring results on Forms 35A and 35B, which had not been signed by agents.
