In the company of our Water and Environment CeC Fatma Awale, Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi led a team to inspect the situation at the source.

"To our dismay, the recent floods at River Galana swept away water well pumps at Baricho cutting the water path down to Mombasa," he said on Thursday.

Baricho supplies Mombasa County with over 40,000 Cubic Meters of Water daily that sustains the over 1 million residents.

"Sadly, all the eight water pumps were damaged and left with mud and debris last week when the heavy rains befell Kilifi County."

As a government, Kingi said they are doing all that is possible to mitigate the scarcity of water.

"The county will continue distributing what is in our banks to the most affected residents using boozers," affirmed the DG and called upon all resigned residents to use water responsibly and try to harvest the rain water while it lasts.
