However, it gained him some supremacy among his supporters not only in Mombasa but the whole of the coastal region and Kenya, and that gave him a courage to even attack the president.
The “Sultan” style of politics seems to have been adopted by some politicians in Kenya, one of them being the Thirdway Alliance Kenya presidential candidate Dr.Ekuru Aukot whose always on to Raila Odinga.
Aukot and Raila’s war of words started a few days ago when Mr.Odinga announced his withdrawal in the presidential race, at the same time the high court granting Mr.Aukot a chance to be in the ballot on 26th October presidential election repeat.
Speaking to journalists in Nairobi on Monday, Dr.Aukot accused Mr.Raila of playing dirty politics.
“Raila represents the past, the kind of politics that we want to root out," said Aukot.
Mr.Aukot who refers himself as a “Turkana son of a Nomad” was not known to many till the time he announced his bid to vie for presidency alongside the high profiled candidates eg.Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
The fact that Mr.Raila Odinga responds to Dr.Aukot’s remarks gives him the courage to hit back and make headlines in the media.
During his address in Mombasa on Sunday after his London tour, Odinga attacked Dr.Aukot of being a Jubilee mole.
“I have heard you saying that Raila is not Kenya and election will go on. When did you Ekuro Aukot had a political campaign, you a just a jubilee mole.” Raila said.
Now Aukot seems to have gained a lot through the war, having been in the headlines almost everyday.
However, he admitted that he respects Mr.Odinga, insisting that he is disciplined enough not to abuse him.
“I will never abuse my elders, I will never disrespect Raila and I choose to walk the moral high ground here.” He defended himself.
