President Kenyatta while making his declaration on the matter on Friday danced to the tune of Deputy President William Ruto in opposing the ongoing push to change the constitution.

"I have no time to run around telling people to change the Constitution. It won’t solve the problems we have but engaging with the private sector on manufacturing like we are doing (I) will,” said the President.

The move has since warmed the hearts of many Uasin Gishu leaders especially following fears that the head of state was in support of the referendum calls following the famous handshake with opposition chief Raila Odinga.

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi in reacting to the President's stand posted on his official Facebook page saying, "The message is clear, There will be no referendum. # SioStoriNiJob."

Several Uasin Gishu residents also could not hide their joy for the President agreeing with the DP.

Here is a sample of a few reactions from the locals on Facebook;

"I salute Hon Uhuru Kenyatta for that wise decision, congratulation," Hosea Kimutai said.

"The President has finally confirmed he his focused on his BIG 4 agenda and we should all support him. A good step prezzo," Kipkorir noted.

"President Uhuru has shown he his working closely with DP Ruto, that's why they have sung the same tune. All leaders should focus on developments and leave referendum issues," Mercy Chepkemoi commented.

"Good step Mr. President, BIG 4 agenda a reality," said Songok.
