Acting Eldowas manager Jimmy Kemboi says plans are afoot to see to it that there is sufficient supply of water to all locals in Uasin Gishu county by 2040.

Speaking to the press in Eldoret, Kemboi said the company is currently finalizing on two key water projects one being the Elegarini dam that will add over 9 million litres of water to the current supply.

“We want to add more water to our supplies so that we at least cut the deficit we are currently facing” noted Mr Kemboi.

“Our target is to do away with the regular water rationing within the next 5 years but in the long run, we are focusing on having each of the Eldoret residents and in extension, the county locals have access to unlimited water supply by 2040,” he added.

The Eldowas manager further said the company has been working on improving the working relationship with road construction companies to help minimize incidences of water pipes being destroyed.

Currently, Eldowas supplies 36 million litres of water to Eldoret town locals daily against the demand of 56 million litres.
