Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said he will contest for the nation’s top seat in 2022.
Mutua could be Kenya’s next President if he gets the support of Deputy President William Ruto. Even though Ruto is unlikely to change his mind over his Presidential dream, anything can happen in politics.
First and foremost, the Kamba and Kalenjin communities have numbers to change the outcome of an election. Mutua will only need to reach out to other communities such as Luhya, Kikuyu and Luo to get part of their votes to make his dream a reality.
Secondly, both Mutua and Ruto will attract the youths' votes. Youths across the country are impressed by the two leaders' styles of politics. Ruto, who is known as a hustler, will bring millions of youths into the bandwagon and so is Mutua.
Thirdly, the leaders enjoy wonderful performance records. Mutua has continued to receive praises from different factions over his great developments in the infrastructure, education and other sectors. His entry in the presidential race will receive a major boost from voters who want performers. Ruto has equally done his best both as the Deputy President and MP.
In conclusion, Mutua could be headed to State House if he is supported by Ruto. The two hail from communities that dominate the political arena. They are also performers.
