Omar unsuccessfully contested for the Mombasa governor seat in last year’s polls losing to Governor Hassan Joho.

The former senator later resigned as Wiper Secretary General and quit the Kalonzo Musyoka led party to join Jubilee.

Omar went on to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the October 26, 2017 repeat election.

He has however remained in political cold as hopes of being rewarded for campaigning for Jubilee in Coast fades away.

According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Omar can only make a comeback if he denounces Jubilee and returns to Wiper or any opposition party.

Ngure says that it will be difficult for Omar to continue preaching Jubilee agenda in Mombasa or Coast.

“Coast and especially Mombasa is opposition stronghold and Omar cannot survive unless he denounces Jubilee,” he said.

The analyst says that the former senator should forget about politics if he continues to advocate for Jubilee.

He adds that Ngure can make a successful bid for Mombasa governor seat if he re-joins the opposition and the fact that Governor Hassan Joho is serving his last term.

Omar has been has been castigating opposition leaders saying that they have nothing to offer to the Coast people.

In a recent interview, the former senator vowed to lead Coast region in supporting Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid
