I came to know of Hivisasa through a friend while in my last year of campus. We were both looking for means of making extra cash in order to ‘survive’.
Unfortunately, I didn’t find the idea of online news writing convincing and therefore turned down the offer.
In my view, writing was meant for literature and journalism students, I did not think my business administration background will be beneficial in this case.
In my entire life, I have always wanted to learn new things and after two weeks I contacted my friend with the aim of learning how to write.
He was already writing for Hivisasa at the moment, and he felt he was not in a better position to guide me through the entire process.
He connected me to an editor identified as Paul. At first, Paul informed me that anybody can write as long there an urge to learn.
To start with the process, he forwarded some articles on different topics so that I could learn about the story structure.I engaged him on a number of things regarding writing such as legal issues and balancing of an article and he was very helpful.
After a week of learning, I decided to submit my first article. During the editing process, Paul called me and noted a number of mistakes.
This happened for about a week.
From the second week, my articles were only returned on the basis of too similar. This encouraged me further and I was able to venture into different subjects and I was rewarded with handsome bonuses.
On a weekly basis, I was pocketing a cool sh7000.
At the moment with the new payment systems, a single article can sometimes fetch Sh250 which is amazing.
My Hivisasa earning is mostly channeled into paying bills while my salary from a local bank is used to cater for my masters' fees.
Don't be left behind, you can be like me.
Thank you Paul for the guidance.
