ODM leader Raila Odinga has released a proposal to end corruption in all government bodies.
The proposal titled "end the menace of toa kitu kidogo in government was revealed on Thursday by the former Prime Minister on his official facebook page.
Raila talked mostly on the tendering process in government poking holes in certain procedures in the process.
"On 19/10/2016 I stated that it had become clear that we cannot wait for help from the government because it is aiding and abetting corruption," said Raila in the statement.
"More importantly, I said that I shall progressively be engaging Kenyans in self-help programmes to rid ourselves of corruption," he added.
Raila said to end corruption in the government tendering process, his party ODM will sponsor a bill in parliament called "Prompt Payment Bill 2016".
The purpose of the bill will be to compel the government to pay all suppliers within 30 days of supply of goods.
The opposition chief decried the long duration it takes for suppliers to be paid by the government month or years after delivering the services. He noted out the prolonged payment period as a lope hole for corruption to thrive.
"It is painful to see many young people around the country struggling to get loans from banks to supply the government with the 'hope' of payment one day, then waiting for months and/or years before payment is received meanwhile accruing interest on the loans they had taken," said Raila.
"Furthermore, it is no secret that under this government in order to be paid for goods or services provided one must part with kitu kidogo," he added.
The former Premier therefore exuded confidence that the 'Promt Payment Bill 2016' will be instrumental in ending corruption in the area of payment of public invoices since it is the area with the highest practice of the vice.
