Besides pressure from Washington DC on veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga to dialogue with Jubilee administration, Mama Ida Odinga has been credited for Friday's historic truce between the two protagonists.
Multiple sources indicate that Mrs Odinga and a section of President Uhuru's family members were instrumental in the deal that was brokered last week.
A source privy to Raila's political activities says Ida has been pushing for dialogue given her focus on the former's legacy.
"She was opposed to violent confrontations and instead advocated for dialogue. She played an instrumental role along with Mama Ngina Kenyatta," said the source.
To neutralize radical voices with NASA, the source adds, Ida seized the opportunity to dialogue when Uhuru is said to have reached Raila.
"Her main concern was legacy and that is why she seized the opportunity. In many instances, she has been pushing for dialogue despite opposition from Raila."
Moments to Raila's swearing-in, Ida is said to have slammed a faction of radical politicians who advocated for the move.
"You can go and swear someone else and not my husband. I won't allow that to happen any soon," she was quoted by a local paper.
