The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati has seemingly pushed aside Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ezra Chiloba, ahead of the fresh presidential election on October 17.

Chebukati made changes to the Commission's secretariat, just as he promised after a Supreme Court ruling that annulled August 8 presidential election, over irregularities, September 1.

In his new list of staff, Chebukati announced six new names of persons to work in a project team ahead of the presidential polls for three months contract.

Chebukati who is the National Returning Officer (RO), named Marjan Hussein Marjan, who is one of the two IEBC deputy CEOs, as the Project Coordinator. Betty Nyabuto was also a deputy CEO, in charge of Operations.

Others include; 

Dr Sidney Namulungu (named Head of Operations). She replaces Betty Nyabuto.

Nancy Kariuki (Head of Logistics). Replaces Immaculate Kassait - Director Voter Registration.

Albert Gogo (Head of ICT) under supervision of the National Returning Officer. Replaces James Muhati who had taken over from the late Chris Msando.

Bernard Misati Moseti (Head of Training). Replaces Anne Nderitu - Director of training.

Silas Rotich - Head of the National tallying centre.

"As the National Returning Officer, I wish to assure all Kenyans of my commitment to ensure that this fresh presidential election is done in accordance with the Constitution, relevant laws and that it reflects the sovereign will of the Kenyan people," said Chebukati, Tuesday evening.

The Opposition's National Super Alliance (Nasa) had questioned the credibility and eligibility of IEBC in conducting the elections, and orederd for the removal of some faces, before the fresh poll is held.

Nasa wanted the following staff out.

1. Ezra Chiloba - Chief Executive Officer (CEO).2. Immaculate Kassait - Director Voter Registration.3. Prof Abdi Yakub Guliye - Commissioner in charge of ICT.4. Praxidis Tororey - Head of Legal Affairs.5. Ms Betty Nyabuto - Deputy CEO in charge of Operations.6. James Muhati - ICT Director.
