Ex-ICT Permanent Secretary Bitange Ndemo has hailed Kitutu Chache North MP Jimmy Angwenyi for rescuing him at the time of need.
Having quit as a Financial Analyst from US, Ndemo's woes worsened when he failed to secure a job in Kenya in 1993, forcing him to vendor vegetables.
"The little I saved, I used it to build a house in my village. I could not secure a job and life changed completely.
"I became a laughing stock to the family with some doubting my studies in the US. It was just like living in hell," he wrote on Facebook.
But things would turn around when he met Angwenyi, then a lecturer in the University of Nairobi, who offered him a teaching job.
"I pumped him in the streets of Nairobi and he had heard about my plight. He thereafter offered me a job and that is how I survived."
Years later, Bitange would be recruited by President Mwai Kibaki to government where he rose to be a dependable civil servant until his exit in 2013.
