President Uhuru Kenyatta today said the Jubilee Government has changed the face of northern Kenya unlike previous administrations that did little for the region.
The President said the Jubilee Administration has a genuine concern to solve the problems facing the people of the region who were neglected in the past.
He spoke after commissioning the construction of a modern stadium in Marsabit town. This was after he officially opened the Isiolo - Moyale road, which was constructed at a cost of Sh42 billion.
“Who can tell us that the Jubilee Government has not worked for the people of this region,” said the President as he instructed the Ministry of Infrastructure to tarmac all the roads within the town.
The President said the Government has funded the upgrading of Marsabit hospital at a cost of Sh800 million and residents no longer need to travel to Nairobi to seek specialized medical treatment.
The Head of State, who was accompanied by his deputy William Ruto, said the investments in the northern region was part of his Administration’s work to lay down the foundations for progress.
He said the next phase of the transformational agenda of Jubilee is to implement an action plan to create more jobs, lower prices and enhance peace and security.
The President urged the residents to vote for Jubilee so that it can continue with the work to make Kenya more prosperous.
He said Kenyans will benefit from Jubilee’s plans for the next five years including free secondary education and enhanced National Hospital Insurance Fund.
The President urged residents to vote in peace and cautioned the youth to avoid being misused to cause violence.
He said the two candidates vying to become governor of Marsabit, one running on Jubilee ticket and the other on the Jubilee affiliated Frontier Alliance Party , should campaign in peace and ensure their supporters do not hurt each other.
The deputy President also called on residents to know that they are in parties that are allies and are both supporting President Kenyatta’s re-election.
“We respect you a lot. We want the people of this county to vote in peace,” said the DP.
The two leaders were scheduled to address another rally in Maralal, Samburu County later in the day.
