The Friday Jubilee party nominations is a test that will determine the future of President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto.
According to Gatundu North MP Kigo Njenga, the tyranny of numbers can be lost if Jubilee does not adhere to free and fair nominations.
Speaking in Mbichi village, the MP said that defection and low turnout will be witnessed if the process will be marred with election malpractices.“Voter apathy cannot be ruled out in the August general election if the primaries lack fairness and are not done in a transparent manner. I am calling on the party stalwarts to ensure fairness in Friday’s nomination as the victim will be none other than President Uhuru Kenyatta,” Kigo said. The legislature asked the party to heavily punish aspirants that will bribe voters and those found bending nomination rules. He pointed out violence among other ills as a setback to voter turnout.
According to him, this will psyche voters who will be willing to go and vote for their chosen leaders and president Kenyatta.“We can only get the best leadership at all levels of government through respecting the wishes of the electorate,” he said.
