Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka is no doubt one of the most influential politicians in the country. The Former Vice President has repeatedly said he will contest for the nation’s top seat in 2022. His political journey has not been easy though.
Here are three instances when Kalonzo surprised Kenyans.
When he skipped Raila’s controversial swearing in
Kalonzo left Kenyans talking when he skipped NASA leader Raila Odinga's controversial swearing in. Both Raila and Kalonzo were expected to take the oath of office but the latter staged no-show. He was attacked from all ends and termed coward for abandoning Raila at the hour of need.
When he refused to respond to a journalist
In 2014, Kalonzo was trolled for what many Kenyans termed as ethnic profiling after he refused to respond to a journalist. It was during a Cord press briefing that the Kamba political kingpin turned away QTV reporter Kennedy Murithi.“You know young man, everybody is entitled to his own opinion. First of all, we did not even get your name,” (the journalist then says his name) “Thank you Kennedy Murithi, that name betrays it all, thank you I have nothing else to say, I have nothing else to say,” Kalonzo responded.
When he accepted to be a running mate for the second time
Kalonzo’s allies had maintained that he would not play second fiddle to any candidate. It was surprising when the former Vice President agreed to be Raila’s running mate. The two, however, have not been in good terms after the Luo political kingpin met President Uhuru Kenyatta.
