President Uhuru Kenyatta has had a close relationship with journalist Kanze Dena’s family.
Kanze is the daughter of mzee Harry Kitao.Kitao is the brother-in-law of Taveta MP Naomi Shaban.
Shaban has been a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his key supporter in the area which is predominantly inhabited by opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Those who know the close ties between Kenyatta and Shaban say she is among the few female politicians who have the president’s ear.
The unwavering support of Naomi Shaban cemented the friendship between the two families.
When Kanze Dena’s father passed away on May 11 last year, Uhuru hailed him as a great man.
“Kitao was at the forefront in community initiatives that ensured the education of children in Kibra, Kisauni and Taveta was smooth,” Uhuru said.
On June 5, Uhuru appointed Kanze as the Deputy State House Spokesperson and Deputy Head of Presidential Strategic Communication Unit.
