Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu on Wednesday hosted a delegation from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) at Ruiru Sub-County offices.

The delegation was led by Deputy Director of Safety, Strategies and County Coordination Dr. Duncan Kibogong.

According to Waititu, the meeting was aimed at improving transport sector as well as reducing accidents within the county.

Waititu added that NTSA will collaborate with the county government in a bid to establish County Transport and Safety Committee.

"Towards it's vision of having efficient, reliable and safe road transport systems in Kenya, NTSA will be working in partnership with the County Government of Kiambu in the establishment of a County Transport and Safety Committee," said Waititu. 

The key functions of the committee shall include overseeing the management and regulation of the road transport system by authority at the county level, advising the authority on matters affecting the road transport system within the county and preparing and submitting to the authority audit reports as the authority may require on the safety, reliability and efficiency of the road transport system within the county.

County officials who attendanded the meeting included CEC Roads John Mugwe, Chief Officer for Roads Eng. Lucas Wahinya, Assembly Roads and Transport Chairman MCA Daniel Kaberi and Biashara Ward MCA Elijah Njoroge.
