Veteran Nakuru politician and former Subukia lawmaker Koigi wa Wamwere remain one of the most celebrated political figures not only in Nakuru, but the entire nation.
Despite retaining a big name, Koigi seems to have lost his political relevance, hence his terrible fail in the August 8 Nakuru senatorial race nominations.
Despite having dissolved his Chama Cha Mwananchi bloc into President Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee party, he failed to secure the party ticket which was captured by the incumbent Susan Kihika.
However, all is not lost as he still stands a chance to regain his initial popularity, which could as well see him make a comeback in the political field, and the first strategy would be to maintain consistency.
He should avoid the last minute appearance and show his interest for his desired post as early as now.
This, apart from making the electorate gain interest in him, will prepare them for his candidature.
With Nakuru county being deemed predominantly a Jubilee zone, Koigi should consider reducing his links with opposition leader Raila Odinga, a sworn rival of Jubilee party leader President Uhuru Kenyatta.
This will, however, be unnecessary should the truce between the two leaders result in a joint political formation.
The leader is also known for his anti-government campaigns and regular attacks on Jubilee, an approach that if not tamed could further dim his possibilities of making a comeback.
Lastly, Koigi should consider going for a lower post should he decide to run in 2022.
It would be advisable for him to settle for a parliamentary as he stands a bigger chance winning it than any other position.
However, all these depend on whether he will decide to take another shot at active politics in the future.
