For some time, the mention of the Kiandutu slum in Thika send cold chills in the spines of Thika residents.
It is, however, now a completely different story.
Kiandutu slums was associated with all manner of evil and criminal activities. Changaa brewing,theft and dirt was the order of the day which is now a past story.
The village popularly referred to as 'Ndula' has undergone dramatic changes and business has stared to pick like any other area in Thika.
Talking to one of the residents on Saturday, Mwangi Giteri who operates a bodaboda business in the area said that the place have become more comfortable to work and live in.
"Kiandutu is now a real home where one can work freely like any other citizen without disruption from the idle gangs that have been rooted out," he said.
The current Member of Parliament Patrick Wainaina has severally visited the area to check on the development progress taking place.
