A learning assessment conducted by Twaweza East Africa has shed light on how the location of a school and students affect learning outcomes.
The study dubbed The sixth Learning Assesment Report was released on 15/12/2016 at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development highlights how urban and rural areas affect learning outcomes.
According to the data collected between October and November this year, pupils in Urban areas had better learning outcomes than their peers in rural areas.
The locality also affects the understanding of languages.
It was found out that 25% of students in rural areas can read a story in both English and Kiswahili languages while 41% accounted for their peers in urban areas.
Twaweza conducted the study based on class 2 content.
