Details are emerging on how the influential Kenyatta family forced their son, President Uhuru Kenyatta, to reach out to Opposition chief Raila Odinga for dialogue.
Sources close to the family of founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta intimated that the family has been deeply concerned with the path the nation is taking under the leadership of their son.
This made them pile pressure on him to reach out to his political nemesis Raila Odinga.
Mama Ngina Kenyatta, the mother of President Uhuru Kenyatta, is known to be a very powerful figure in running the country behind the scenes.
Another powerful voice in the day to day running of the country is Uhuru’s brother Muhoho Kenyatta.
The two, a couple of Jubilee fixers and the international community is said to have ‘pumped some sense into Uhuru’s head’ influencing his decision to reach out to Raila.
The parties were concerned over the legacy Uhuru would leave when he retires to be a statesman in 2022.
After several secret talks with these parties, President Kenyatta picked his phone and called Raila Odinga.
A phone call that might go into history in having changed the direction of the country.
Raila's wife Ida Odinga is also said to have been roped into the scheme to help soften her hubby's heart.
Only close confidants and chief security spies knew of the call and manoeuvre behind the scenes. This happened about three weeks ago and culminated into the Friday meeting between the top top political leaders.
Mama Ngina, during the 2017 elections, was forced to visit retired president Moi at his Kabarak home in Nakuru to have a talk which political pundits said was critical in having Kanu support Uhuru.
She has been a cornerstone to her son's political journey.
