Governor Jackson Mandago signed the MoU that provides a framework of actualization of affordable housing that shall see through the development of 2,000 housing units in the county annually in the next five years.

Mandago signed the MoU on behalf of the county of Uasin Gishu with Principal Secretary for Housing and Urban Planning Charles Hinga Mwaura signing on behalf of the national government.

This is the first step in creating a framework under the Big Four Agenda being championed by the Jubilee government as well as the Kenya Urban Support Program (KUSP) that shall ensure lack of affordable housing within urban centers in Uasin Gishu is a thing of the past.

With Eldoret preparing to be elevated into a city, housing will be a key element as it is expected that more people will be migrating from the rural areas in the region.

The signing of the MoU is one of the achievements of the negotiations in the ongoing fifth devolution Conference at the Kakamega High School in Kakamega County.

County Secretary Peter Lelei and Lands County Executive Eng. Nelson Maritim among other top county officials witnessed the MoU signing exercise.
