Although celebrated by many for bringing radical changes in the ministry, Education CS Fred Matiang'i has broken the law in the release of the 2016 KCPE results.

Matiang’i did this by failing to rank candidates and schools despite Parliament passing it as a law.

He said that there was no need to do the ranking since it did not add any remarkable difference to the exercise.

"There is no basis to do ranking of students and schools as at now," said Matiang’i.

According to Matiang'i, the ministry could not manage to put everything ready in time concerning the proper method of ranking pupils or school performance.
