Nyali MP Mohamed Ali has announced rolling out an elaborate plan that will aid in the fight against drug peddling and consumption in his constituency.
Ali said his office, besides working with law enforcement agencies will introduce clubs where youth will engage one another as well as stakeholders on the dangers of drugs abuse.
He said his office also plans to allocate money from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) kitty that will be spent in funding activities geared towards rehabilitating youth already abusing drugs in the Coastal sub-county.
"I am not taking this lightly because I understand what drugs have done to youth in Nyali," Ali a celebrated investigative journalist said on Sunday.
"This is one problem that we have to face head-on and united. No one can win this battle alone," he added.
His efforts come at a time police have stepped up the hunt for drug peddlers and consumers in the Coast region.
Police blame the drugs menace on the rise of insecurity not only in Nyali but other sub-counties constituting Mombasa County.
In the last one month, law enforcers have shot dead more than ten youth linked to the insecurity presently being experienced in Mombasa.
All criminal gangs operating in Mombasa, police say, use drugs.
