What was meant for local consumption on Saturday turned to be monster for Raila Odinga in a burial at Senator James Orengo's home.
A story run by a local media under the headline "I smell betrayal' made the NASA leader to hastily convene a press conference at his Opoda farm to rebuke his own statement.
"These are propaganda being spread by media to break NASA. We know those peddling the claims," Raila said on Sunday.
But in Luo language, an insider with ODM party says, the NASA leader was shaken and had to counter the headline which was 'credible'.
The source, who spoke in confidence, says Odinga was agitated by the media house that published the story even though he reportedly dismissed his co-principals.
"Of course he spoke about what happened during swearing-in and insisted all was not well. The headline caused some jitters within the coalition.
"He had to come out immediately and quell the storm. He was not happy with the way his colleagues behaved during inauguration," said the source.
Even though Raila insists that all is well in NASA, the source adds, internal intrigues have hindered the quest for the coalition.
Already, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has made it clear that Raila will run for presidency in 2022.
