Doctors at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret town have undergone a training in a bid to improve patients safety.
Hospital's chief executive officer says the move is meant to help ensure patients get quality healthcare services as well as guaranteed safety from the time they enter the facility up to the time they walk out."There is a need for adherence to patient safety by all players in the health sector which is key towards the realization of effective healthcare service delivery," said Dr. Aruasa during the training in Eldoret town, Saturday."Doctors will now be equipped with skills and knowledge on how to discharge their duties to the satisfaction of the patients," he added.Dr. Aruasa further said patient safety informed the decision to have a night superintendent and a senior nurse covering the Hospital at night assisted by four nurses.
He also emphasized the need for clinical audits in the Hospital targeting specific cases.
"There is a need for unity of purpose in all disciplines managing patients. As team leaders, doctors should take the lead," noted Dr. Aruasa.
The hospital, second largest public health facility in the country has embraced Patient Safety Approaches and Root Cause Analysis since 2014.
