Mungai won with a huge margin.

The gubernatorial race might perhaps invite a high contest on who to clinch the JAP ticket if the new merger is to be formed.

The current governor, Kinuthia Mbugua who last week received an open rebellion from Nakuru residents on Thursday after being heckled by a crowd along Kenyatta avenue will battle it out with senator James Mungai and John Mututho, former Naivasha MP as well as Lee Kinyajui who is also former Nakuru Town MP.

Governor Kinuthia Mbugua floored Lee Kinyanjui in the 2013 elections to win the TNA nomination.

Others eyeing the position include Nakuru Town East MP, David Gikaria and his Bahati counterpart, Kimani Ngunjiri.

Though they have not openly declared their ambitions, they have openly criticized the governor for his style of leadership and for allegedly harassing traders in the town.
