The ongoing row within the opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA), despite being a worry to some of the alliance's supporters and leaders, is likely to be a cause of joy in some other quarters.

With the alliance apparently being in the merge of a break-up as a result of in-fighting, a possibility its 4 co-principals have however rubbished, its collapse could lead to the rise of a new political class, with the first beneficiary likely to be Third-Way Alliance party boss Ekuru Aukot.

Aukot who finished second in the October 26 presidential re-run has since clung to the argument that he is Kenya's legitimate opposition leader, downplaying NASA which snubbed the poll.

He, however, does not have any justification for the same as his party has not even a single elected or nominated leader, as compared to NASA which comes second after the ruling Jubilee.

Aukot's dream of leading the opposition will therefore be realized upon the collapse of NASA, should Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula follow the alliance supremo Raila Odinga's example and reconcile with the government.

With this materializing, Aukot will be left with no opposition as his party is currently the third most popular, and will automatically ascend to the position.

However, politics is a game of probabilities and what will happen next remains to be seen.
