Kenyans from various political divide in Nyamira took on one another after the Supreme Court ruling with their perennial differences openly erupting in social media.
On Monday, Supreme Court judges unanimously upheld President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory over the controversial repeat poll which was widely boycotted by the opposition.
But with Nyamira locals clearly avoiding streets to show their happiness or frustrations, many took the war on WhatsApp.
“He can never be my president and we cannot recognize him. Let him rule his Central and Rift Valley voters,” said Peterson Ondieki.
Kerubo Nyanchama added in Nyamira Politics WhatsApp Group: “It is not yet over until it is over. We shall continue pressing hard.”
But some came into the defense of Supreme Court: “The court has ruled and let the will have the people remain,” said a user by the name Emamba.
Another user, Erick Mwambi said: “A wise ruling and perfect time to heal the nation and move on. We can’t be in electioneering mood all the time.”
The opposition team has since declared Uhuru’s victory as ‘illegitimate’ and vowed to use other means to handle the matter.
