A number of leaders in NASA have admitted the coalition threw politician Miguna Miguna under the bus.
The opposition leaders deserted the self-declared general of the now outlawed National Resistance Movement (NRM) at the hour of need, refusing to visit him for five days when he was detained for administering an illegal oath.
Miguna has now been deported Canada, a country he lived in for more than 20 years, and where his family is currently based. Government officers say he denounced his citizenship when he took up the Canadian one.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino said the members of parliament affiliated with NASA failed Miguna.
“We as NASA MPs failed you our NRM General Miguna Miguna, kindly accept my apology,” he wrote on Twitter.
Lawyer and former ODM Nairobi senatorial candidate Edwin Sifuna admitted the opposition let Miguna down.
“We failed Miguna,” he said on Twitter.
Sources say NASA MPs were unhappy with how Miguna had made it to Raila’s inner cycle of friends.
The MPs, especially from Luo Nyanza, are worried that Miguna will end up inheriting Raila’s political support.
When TJ Kajwang was arrested for taking part in the illegal swearing in of Raila, NASA MPs came together and visited him.
